How the AP Lit composite works
Your multiple choice result is converted to a percentage and weighted at 45%, while the three essays are summed out of 18 points and weighted at 55%. Adding the two weighted parts gives a composite percentage, which this calculator maps to a predicted 1-5 score using common estimated thresholds.
Using the estimate wisely
Essays carry the majority of the weight, so a single point gained across the poetry, prose or argument essays can lift your composite. Because the curve is reset each year, treat a borderline result as uncertain and use the breakdown to plan your review.
