How the AP Calculus BC composite works
Your raw results in each section are converted to a percentage of the points available, then averaged because multiple choice and free response are each worth 50%. The 45 multiple choice questions and the 54 free response points are weighted equally, and the combined composite percentage maps to a predicted 1-5 score using common estimated thresholds.
Using the estimate wisely
BC has one of the most forgiving curves of any AP exam, so a borderline composite often rounds up. Use the breakdown to see whether multiple choice or free response is the weaker section, and remember that partial credit across six free response questions adds up quickly.
