How the AP World composite works
Your raw results in each section are first converted to a percentage of the points available, then weighted by that section's share of the exam: multiple choice 40%, short answers 20%, the DBQ 25% and the LEQ 15%. Adding the weighted parts gives a composite percentage, which this calculator maps to a predicted 1-5 score using common estimated thresholds.
Using the estimate wisely
Because the College Board adjusts the curve each year based on exam difficulty, no predictor can give an exact score. Treat a result near a boundary as uncertain, and focus on the sections where you can gain the most weighted points. Strengthening multiple choice and the DBQ moves your composite the fastest.
