Measuring your lawn for sod
Start by sketching the area and splitting it into simple shapes you can measure. Multiply length by width for each rectangle, add the pieces together, then apply a waste allowance for trimming. Buying a little extra is cheaper than ordering a second, smaller delivery to finish a few gaps.
Laying and establishing sod
Prepare the soil by loosening, levelling and lightly raking it before delivery, and lay sod the same day it arrives. Stagger the seams like bricks, press pieces tightly together and water deeply right away. Keep new sod consistently moist for the first couple of weeks while the roots establish.
