Preparing for kidding
As the estimated date nears, set up a clean, draft-free kidding pen with fresh bedding and have supplies ready: clean towels, iodine for the navel, and contact details for your vet. Watch for udder filling, a softening and hollowing around the tailhead, and restlessness or pawing, which often signal that kidding is close.
Why a window, not a single day
Gestation is an average, not a guarantee. Because individual does, breeds and litters vary, the calculator shows a window of a few days on either side of the estimate. Use the estimated date to plan, but be prepared a week ahead in case your doe kids early.
